PROJECT OVERVIEW
Client: Harwood Museum of Art
Industry: Museum, Fine Art
Services Provided: Exhibition Identity, Illustration, Print Design, Web Graphics, Annual Report Editorial Design
IN BRIEF
We had the opportunity to design exhibition visual identities and an annual report for Harwood Museum of Art, bringing a range of artistic visions to life through thoughtful, immersive design. For exhibitions including Raven Chacon: Three Songs, Luchita Hurtado: Earth & Sky Interjected, Nicholas Herrera: El Rito Santero, and Charles Ross: Mansions of the Zodiac, we created cohesive branding that extended across gallery guides, postcards, posters, fundraising materials, web graphics, and in-exhibition didactics and displays. Each exhibition’s design was tailored to reflect the impact of the artist’s work, from ethereal and transcendent to bold and illustrative.
In addition to exhibition design, we designed Harwood’s 52-page annual report, transforming key milestones, programs, and sponsorships into an engaging, magazine-like experience with striking visuals and compelling layouts. Our work ensured that both exhibitions and institutional storytelling were not only informative but visually impactful and accessible.
What We Did
Exhibition Design.
For Harwood Museum of Art (Taos, NM), we designed exhibition visual identities that translated each artist’s body of work into a cohesive and consistent overarching design experience. From the music-inspired energy of Raven Chacon: Three Songs to the celestial precision of Charles Ross: Mansions of the Zodiac, each exhibition called for a specific approach that reflected the exhibition’s themes and the artists’ intent. Our designs were carried through across gallery guides, postcards, posters, fundraising materials, web graphics, and in-exhibition didactics and displays, ensuring a consistent and engaging presence throughout the museum’s marketing efforts and the exhibition itself. For Charles Ross: Mansions of the Zodiac, we also designed educational didactics for a kid-friendly learning space, making astronomy-inspired concepts more visually accessible to younger patrons. Across each project, our focus was using visual design to connect audiences with the art in a visually compelling and relevant way.
Annual Report.
For Harwood Museum of Art’s Annual Report, we transformed a year’s worth of exhibitions, events, sponsorships, and programs into a more engaging and accessible publication. Rather than a traditional, text-heavy report, we designed a magazine-like experience that highlighted key accomplishments through (provided) bold photography, consistent graphic elements, and thoughtful layouts. The design reinforced Harwood’s brand while making important information more visually digestible. By balancing clarity with creativity, we turned a formal document into a storytelling piece that captured the museum’s impact over the year. Our experience in editorial and booklet design allowed us to craft a report that not only informed but also inspired engagement from the museum’s ongoing (and potential) supporters and community.

Annual Report

TL;DR
We designed visual identities for four stellar fine art exhibitions and wrapped it all up with a slick, magazine-style annual report. Spreadsheets and stats? We gave those a glow-up too. Because who says museum reports can’t be a page-turner?
